Opinion: Gear in PvP

I have an opinion! Why is mine special and your isnt? Because I have a collumn to rant about my opinion! In other news, if you are afraid of opinions, and people who think diffrently then you, please DONT read this collumn. If you want to know what other people think, then continue. Yes I did another generic disclaimer!

Gear and PvP. Another Disclamer: I am not a E-Sports or competetive PvP'er in MMO's. Also note that I am talking about MMO's. Gear in CoD or Starcraft would suck.

As you may or may not know, Ive been playing Guild Wars 2 lately. I have sunk about 50 hours into it, of which some has been PvP'ing on my Charr Elementalist. I have PvP'ed in previous MMO's before such as FF or World of Warcraft. In those games you bring gear into the battlegrounds. Sadly Firefall seemed to remove gear. Anyway, I like the idea of gear in Battlegrounds. It is sort of fun, because you get to feel like you can progress getting gear, and it will matter.
Sadly, In Guild Wars 2 Battlegrounds dont let you bring gear into it. Basicly it seems that there is NO progression in Guild Wars 2 sPvP. There is in World Vs World though, which may be why I love it. (I love SPvP too!)

I love gear in PvP, but the competetive doesnt. Luckily I have a solution for gear in PvP, that leaves me and the comptetive scene happy, and is inspired by Guild Wars 2, to see topical.
There is normal sPvP and Tournament sPvP in Guild Wars 2. My solution is: Have the normal PvP be gear based, and then have the Torunament PvP be how it is now, with balanced gear for all.

I dont know. Maybey I am the only one who thinks Gear in PvP is fun. Maybey I only like gear becasue I come from WoW, not FPS or RTS. But it doesnt matter if im the only one who wants this, I will still propse this to the devs because it is the OPINION collumn after all.
