I mentioned that I will do this Tip: earlier for those who wanted help with choosing apps for their Windows Phone 8. So here it is. My list of recommended apps for my Windows Phone 8. These are the apps that I downloaded so far. (So stuff that are automatically there, like office wont be here) So here are the Windows Phone apps that I use.
Authenticator- This is a really good app for those who play Guild Wars 2, as this is a Guild Wars 2 authenticator. It is free.
Battle.NET Auth- This is a Battle.Net authenticator. Good for games like Diablo 3, and WoW so your accounts don't get stolen. It is free.
Battery Info- Battery Info is a free app to monitor battery life. It has a live tile, allows you to disable things to save battery, and shows on lock screen. It is my personal favorite battery life app. It is free.
Face Lens- This is a funny augmented reality app that allows you to change peoples faces with monkeys, memes, and more. It is free with in app purchases for different lens.
Fox News- The official Fox News app. Good for world news. It is free, and has a live tile.
PDF Reader- Why wasn't this in from the start? Oh well. This is the free Microsoft PDF reader. It is really good.
SC Companion Lite- Really I only use this to track Sebastian in SC2. www.azuritegamer.blogspot.com This is a free app for Windows Phone. Has live tiles. It is supported by adds. You can pay 1.50$ for an add free version.
SkyDrive- Pretty sure this is in from the start, but incase it isn't.
Skype- Enough said with this. It is a app that allows you to chat and video chat with people free. It is really good. On Windows Phone 8 it is completely free, takes advantage of Front Cam, and is always on without draining battery or speed. It is basically free calling.
The Windows Phone version of Skype and all these apps is way better then Android or IOS.
Translator- This app is a great translator for Windows Phone. Unlike Google translate on Droid, this Bing translator works offline. It has a live tile that teaches you a word of the day. It has a lot of languages. It allows you to type, or speak and it will translate. It also allows you to scan words with a camera and it translates them. It also works as a lens. It is really good. Did I mention it is free? Get it. Windows Phone with this is a must have for learning a new language.
Twitter- Twitter for Windows Phone is a really good free metro app. Works perfectly, and is really fast. Yes you can use Twitter (and FB) via texting. But this is a great app to use while Online twitter.
Games
Angry Birds- .99 cents app. I don't need to explain. It is nice causal fun.
Angry Birds Star Wars- Costs: .99 cents. I don't need to explain. It is nice causal fun.
Sonic CD- 5$, but this is a better then PC quality game. It is Sonic CD full on Windows Phone with bonus levels and the ability to play as tails. It is so good. It also has a free trial.
XBOX Extras- Allows you to edit your avatar on Xbox Live from the phone. Doesn't need to be said, but due to Xbox live support, Windows Phone is THE BEST for gaming. Along with Windows 8, Windows 8 tablet, and XBOX. This is FREE!
ARShooter- 99 cents. (free version supported by adds.) ARShooter is a augmented reality lens that allows you to shoot your friends in real time. With Lasers. Get it.
Minicraft- M I N I craft. This is a Minecraft style game that Notch made for Windows Phone. He also used it in Ludum Dare. It is actually really fun. It is FREE
Survivalcraft- Survivalcraft is a game that is like Minecraft, but way better. It has more items, and is constantly updated. It is WAY better then the official ones on IOS and Android. In IOS and Android all you have is creative with a few items. There are way more things, and survival, and adventure in Surivalcraft. Only for Windows Phone. It is 3.99$, but way worth it. It is better then the 40$ Minecraft PC.
Apps I don't have but will get
Terraria- Ok this isn't out, but I am working on porting it to Windows Phone. If you want it, comment below, or send me an E-Mail. I will give you the Windows Phone version of Terraria.
Sonic 4 Episode 1- Do you like PC quality games on Windows Phone? Good. This is 4.99$. It is really good.
Angry Birds Space- Costs: .99 cents. I don't need to explain. It is nice causal fun.
Remote desktop- Not only do you have the PC quality Windows Phone 8 OS, but with Remote Desktop for 1.99$ you have your PC. Controlled from the Phone. Good for Windows 8 PC.
Those are the apps I use or will get. This is as of 12/27/12
The lens that I have are: Bing Vision, ARShooter, Translator, Face Lens, and Handyscan.
