Was anyone suprised by this? the Next Gen DirectX 11.1 is only for Windows 8. The Next Gen scripting language and Direct X is a Windows 8 exclusive with no port to Windows 7 coming. This is good, as everyone will get Windows 8 anyway. If you want the powerfull Next Gen language and Direct X for better games, then upgrade to Windows 8. This is a really good move by Microsoft.
With DirectX 11.1 we will start seeing Next Gen C++ games be Windows 8 exclusive. DICE has already announced Windows 8 and 64Bit exclusivity. We will begin seeing more companys do this. This hugely benifits indie devs, as Steam is very picky over what it accepts onto the service. For indies, it is a much better idea to get games onto the Windows 8 Store.
